20b Wilson's Plover Charadrius wilsonia
in The Netherlands

A first summer Wilson's Plover Charadrius wilsonia or a product thereoff
was present on the beach of Oostvoorne on 28th May 2010 during high tide.
It was in the company of Ringed Plovers
Charadrius hiaticula psammodroma
which were ready to fly to Greenland or NE Canada. The upright stance it
showed when alarmed is typical for Wilson's Plover . It had longer legs than
the Ringed Plovers. The orange-red basis of the lower mandible and yellow
leg-colour may indicate a hybrid origin.
