Red-tailed Wheatear  

Red-tailed Wheatear Oenanthe xanthoprymna (in Rotterdam)

 

On 3rd June 2008 we found a pale morph female Red-tailed Wheatear Oenanthe xanthoprymna
in the western section of the Port of Rotterdam, The Netherlands: 51.55N 04.00E. There exists
only one previous record in Europe outside the breeding area: a male of the nominate race
xanthoprymna found in Konia, Cyprus, November 2006. The nominate race breeds from SE
Turkey eastwards to Iran.
