The winter 2011-2012 meant for the North Atlantic a continuing flow of
SW & NW storms
bringing into the Northsea area a large influx of Iceland Gulls from the
NW & W Atlantic
as well as other gulls of arctic and subarctic origin. Among the
thousands of gulls
along the Dutch coast feeding on floating
Ensis shells was
this 1st winter
Mongolian Gull Larus
mongolicus found
on 7th January 2012 a species not seen before in our region.
